Are you a Leader or a Boss?

Leaders lead, is anyone following you?

Leader-Boss

Greetings! Today I would like to briefly talk about leaders.  I ran across this meme and just had to share it.  In this industry, we are all striving to become better leaders.  We start building our teams on our own and it can grow without us being leaders.  However, to hit higher ranks in the company we must learn to become leaders.

For many years, I thought leadership was only for certain kinds of people.  The image I had in my head of what a good leader looked like was not how I thought of myself.  However, over the years of reading books on success, leadership, personal development, etc… I began to realize that being a leader is nothing like I imagined.  It all boils down to leading people just like in the picture.  If people are following you, then you are leading them, which means you are a leader.  Being a good or bad is leader is up to you!

The Law of Buy-In

Someone must buy into you, before they can buy into your vision

Girls_IncGreetings!  Today I would like to talk about another law from the book I’m reading called, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.”  This law is called the Law of Buy-In. This means that if you want to lead people, they first need to buy into you before they buy into the vision of where you are going to lead them. So many times, people want to simply cast vision of where they are going, but get no results.  The reason is the person they are casting vision to has not bought into them.

Law of the Big Mo

Every leader needs Momentum to help reach their goals

WakeBoardingGreetings!  Today I would like to talk about another Law of leadership from the book, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” This law is called the law of the Big Mo. What is the Big Mo? It is Momentum. Momentum is a leader’s best friend.  It is one of the things that will help leaders reach the goals they have for themselves and their followers. If you find yourself and your teams being stagnate and not growing or succeeding on any level, then you are dead in the water.

The Law of Respect

Are you a leader your followers respect?

George-BushGreetings!  If you have been following along with me the last few posts, then you know I have been diving into a great book called, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” Today I would like to talk about the Law of Respect. The sub title for this chapter says, “People naturally follow leaders stronger than themselves.” Simply put, it is hard to get someone with more leadership ability than you have to follow you. Leaders follow leaders that are further down the leadership path than themselves.

The Law of Addition

Invest, Learn, Teach

Law-of-Addition Greetings!  Today I would like to talk about the Law of Addition. This law states that leaders add value to others. Since joining my network marketing company, several of my goals in life have changed. My biggest goal now is to add more value to people’s lives. I know for some that can be quite difficult as there are so many different ways to add value to people.  So how can I know if I have reached that goal? That’s just it, I never plan to actually accomplish that goal, as there will always be someone else that I can add value.

The Law of Process

Begin with the end in mind, then follow your process to get to the end

Athens

Greetings! Today I would like to talk about another law I learned about in the book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.” The first law was the law of the lid. Today, I would like to talk about the law of process. This law states that leaders are not born in a day, but born daily. That means that you don’t just wake up one day and BAM you’re a leader. What you do on a daily basis doesn’t seem like much, but over time you begin to change and that daily process will grow you into the leader you want to be.

The Law of Navigation

Are you simply steering your ship, or did you take time to plot your course?

sailboat

Greetings!  Today I would like to talk about another law I read in the leadership book, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”. Today’s law is called the law of navigation. This law means that people follow people who know where they are going.  These are the people who have taken time to chart the course and prepare the ship with all the necessary equipment for the ship and the crew.

The Law of the Lid

What kind of lid do you have on your life that is keeping you from Succeeding?

Old-Jar

Greetings!  I just started a new book this week and wanted to share it. I’m sure most everyone reading my blog has heard of this book and probably read it. However, if someone that heard of it yet, then take my advice and go buy the book and continue to work on yourself. The name of the book is “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John Maxwell. Many leaders in my company have recommended it recently, so I purchased it off Amazon last week.

I want to take the next few posts and share my take aways from the book and how it applied to my life. The first chapter covers the first law, which is called “The Law of the Lid.” Let me share a story I once heard many years ago that will explain what I mean.
